163, 397. The Muddy Charles

I went to The Muddy Charles, an on campus pub, to watch the Germany vs. Italy World Cup game this afternoon. I had a couple of beers and watched the game with some classmates I ran into.

163. Samuel Adams Summer Ale

Serving: Draft, 16 oz.
Style: American Pale Wheat Ale

Appearance (4.0): Pours a brilliant hazy golden with a thick white head that fades and persists as a thin layer.

Smell (3.0): Light citric/lemon fruitiness and a light grainy aroma.

Taste (3.5): Lemon tartness, light sweetness. The finish is grainy and spicy with a very slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel (3.5): Tingly carbonation, oily, light dryness.

Drinkability (4.0): Refreshing.

Overall (3.75): Not an amazing beer, but nice enough. Definitely good for a hot and humid day.

397. Redhook IPA

Appearance (3.5): Pours a clear amber with a thin creamy head.

Smell (3.5): Strong piney hop aromas, light fruity malts appear upon swirling.

Taste (3.0): A strong resiny hop bitterness is present throughout. Light toasty and fruity malts provide balance.

Mouthfeel (3.5): Oily and medium-bodied.

Drinkability (3.5): Easy enough to drink.

Overall (3.3): Not that bad, but not that good.
