1156. Sierra Nevada Glissade Golden Bock
On Saturday March 20th David, Win, Bennett, Jadyn and I spent the evening at our place. We picked up a six-pack of Sierra Nevada Glissade.

Glissade pours a mildly hazy golden, and is topped by a thick, fluffy, egg-shell colored head. The aroma is mild with hints of malt and grassy hops.
Clean, grainy and bready malts upfront give way to a sweetness through the center, and a mild grassy bitterness in the finish. This beer is light-bodied and moderately carbonated.
Pretty straightforward overall. It didn't blow me away

807. Goats Peak Bock
I bought a six-pack of this at the small liquor store on Highland Ave. across the street from Somerville Hospital near Jadyn's House. This was probably in late March or early April. Beer Advocate calls it a bock, but there's no way that it's not a Maibock, the bottle says "Spring Lager", and its color and flavor are definitely that of a Maibock.

The label has a white goat perched atop rocks. The bottle says that the name comes from a peak on Mount Tom in Holyoke, MA. According to my notebook "Today seemed like the first real day of spring that we've had, so when picking a out a beer I thought a Maibock would be appropriate."
Pours a clear copper with sparse, but steady bubbles rising to feed the frothy, sudsy, off-white head that's retained as a film. Sheets of lace form on the sides of the glass. The aroma is rich and malty with bready and biscuity notes, a sharp fruitiness, a bit of alcohol and a hint of herbal hops.
There's an interplay between sweet, caramel malts and toasty, bready malts upfront. The sweetness prevails in the center with a hint of fresh, almost citric fruitiness. Leafy, herbal hops quickly match the sweetness for a nice, crisp, balanced finish. Light-bodied, crisp and highly carbonated.
Flavorful, balanced and very tasty.

I've had this bottle in my fridge since the spring sometime. Jadyn bought some heirloom tomatoes at the Davis Square farmer's market along with some ravioli from Dave's Fresh Pasta. We had this with dinner, which was the ravioli tossed with chopped tomato and sliced heirloom tomatoes.

Overall (3.45): This is a pleasant enough beer, but the alcohol really masks a lot of the other flavors and aromas.

659. Bucking Bock
I got three Rahr & Sons six-packs in a trade with Bryan. After my trip to Belgium he wanted to try Gueuze, but wasn't having much luck finding any in his area. I put together a shipment of 5 or 6 bottles and sent it his way. I'd asked for some Rahr beers in return since I haven't tried any before. I originally tried this one a few weeks ago, but only got around to trying it again to review it tonight. I let it warm a bit and served it in my NERAX pint glass.

Overall (3.3): This seems like a decent shot at the style. It really suffers because of the lack of a significant aroma.
